Matt Tegenkamp won in 13 minutes, 20.57 seconds, followed by Chris Solinsky (13:20.82) and Evan Jager (13:22.18). All three run for the OTC in Portland, having recently moved to the Northwest together from Wisconsin to train under former Wisconsin distance coach Jerry Schumacher.

Tegenkamp and Solinsky first experienced the excitement of being a „hometown“ runner in Eugene during the Prefontaine Classic earlier this month. In the 3,000 at that event, Solinsky placed third and Tegenkamp took fourth as the crowd loudly cheered them on.
Bolota Asmerom finished fourth in Friday’s 5,000 in 13:24.00 and Oklahoma State’s German Fernandez placed fifth in 13:25.46, setting an American junior record.
